Gretta Ray announces Australian tour, Corner Hotel show in June

Melbourne indie pop star Gretta Ray has announced a national Australian tour that includes a homecoming show at The Corner Hotel in June.

The Melbourne-born but now London-based singer-songwriter first came to attention after winning triple j’s Unearthed High and the prestigious Vanda & Young Songwriting Award in 2016 for her high rotation hit, ‘Drive’.

Her 2018 indie EP Here and Now was partly recorded in Nashville along with a diverse array of exploratory singles: ‘Re:Stacks’, a Bon Iver cover with Dustin Tebbutt, ‘Better’ with Japanese Wallpaper and her own, ‘Heal You In Time’.

She then released her debut album Begin to Look Around in 2021, which was nominated for ARIA’s ‘Breakthrough Artist’ as well as ‘Australian Album of the Year’ at the J Awards of 2021.

We reviewed her last gig at The Corner, stating: “Ray has retained a gracious and humble demeanour throughout her blossoming career, which made her all the more charming to watch. You couldn’t help but be in awe of her bold, strong, and full-bodied voice, proving herself to be a truly gifted vocalist.”
