Words by Staff Writer

In celebration of two landmark albums, Dookie and American Idiot, Green Day is bringing their massive Saviors Tour to Australia in 2025.

The tour will mark the 30th anniversary of Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot, with the band set to perform both albums in full.

In their biggest live undertaking to date, Green Day – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool – will also include tracks from their new album Saviors and selections from their extensive collection of hits. Special guests AFI, who will return to Australia for the first time since 2017, will join the tour, making it a highly anticipated event.

The Saviors Tour kicks off at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on March 1, followed by Engie Stadium in Sydney on March 3, and concluding at CBUS Super Stadium, Gold Coast on March 5.

Dookie, Green Day’s third album, was released in 1994 and quickly became a commercial success, selling a million copies within six months and eventually reaching 27 million sales. The album, which includes tracks like Longview, Welcome To Paradise, Basket Case, She, and When I Come Around, became iconic for its raw portrayal of teenage angst and its signature pop-punk sound. Dookie won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album and solidified Green Day’s place in punk rock history.

American Idiot, released a decade later in 2004, resonated with a new generation disillusioned by political turmoil. The album’s titular track became an anthem and remains relevant in today’s political climate. Featuring singles such as American Idiot, Holiday, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Jesus of Suburbia, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams, American Idiot reaffirmed Green Day’s position in the pop punk genre and won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.

As Green Day embarks on their Saviors album tour, featuring their 14th studio album with singles like The American Dream Is Killing Me and Look Ma, No Brains!, it’s clear the band still has plenty to say.

General public onsale begins on Friday, September 20 – Gold Coast commencing at 12pm, Melbourne at 1pm and Sydney at 2pm. Tickets and more information at greenday.com and livenation.com.au
