Grab your passport: There’s a 10-day global beer bonanza coming to Melbourne

pint of origin

Who needs another excuse to drink beer? We do!

If you didn’t already feel spoilt by our bountiful craft beer culture, you will now. From May 12 to 21, Pint of Origin festival is taking over the city, with almost 1000 international brews touching down in Melbourne-town.

The annual event pays homage to top brewers across the world and gives lucky locals the chance to taste imported froffs without having to leave the comfort of the free tram zone. This year, 20 venues throughout the city will be taking part. They’ll become beverage embassies – each bar or pub will be pouring up beers from a different country or region.

Pint of Origin Venues

  • Beermash – Scandanavia
  • Benchwarmer – Asia
  • Carwyn Cellars – USA
  • The Catfish – New Zealand
  • Mr West – Canada
  • Westside Ale Works – Europe

  • The Windsor Ale – No origin point: beers that borrow a brewery

The event also has a ton of exciting prizes up for grabs for those who sign up early, including free beer and exclusive merchandise.

Another of the festival’s big attractions is a Blind IPA Taste Testing Championship on May 17, where the brewski community will come together to crown this year’s top IPA. After carefully considering which has the best balance of hops, malt and yeast, beer aficionados will name a top dog for 2023.

Hosted by the Crafty Pint (an Australian digital magazine dedicated to the art of craft beer), Pint of Origin is a must-attend event for anyone in need of a cold one.
