A dog-lover herself, festival director and lawyer Anny Slater’s dog The Ball, featuring her own dog, was shortlisted for nomination at the 2004 Oscars. And with her evident love of both films and dogs, it seemed only natural for Slater to create the festival which has already attracted Oscar nominated submissions and boasts films submitted from New York, London, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
