The Norwegian queer icon is heading to Melbourne for her largest Australian tour to date.

Girl in Red, the Norwegian alt-pop artist, is heading to Australia in 2023 for two headline shows – her largest shows to date in both Melbourne and Sydney. Catch her when she heads to Melbourne for a performance at 270 Russell on February 1, 2023.

With the release of her debut album, 2021’s If I Could Make It Go Quiet, Girl in Red has amassed a huge following and critical success, including support from celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Camilla Cabello. Making the Best of 2021 album lists of Rolling Stone, NPR, Stereogum, NYLON and more, she is certainly a rising artist to watch.

With singles such as I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend and We Fell in Love in October reaching certified gold in the United States, her lyrical depictions of sapphic relationships and discussions of her mental health have cemented her status as a queer icon across the world. With TikTokers asking “do you listen to Girl in Red?” in mid-2020 as a discreet way of asking another woman if she was queer, her songs about the experience of being queer has resonated with her audience.

She’ll be appearing as the opening act on multiple shows with Taylor Swift, who Girl in Red has cited as one of her biggest musical influences, in The Eras Tour across the United States.
