Amanda Vitartas Band Booker
What’s the first show you ever had/booked at the venue? I’ve actually only just taken over the venue from previous booker, John Waddell, so some of the very first shows I booked are coming up – Shrimpwitch’s EP Launch and White Walls’ 7” launch. Also, Cameron Avery (POND/Tame Impala), Hollow Everdaze, Brad Pot.
Why do you think the music scene in Melbourne is so special? Because of the community surrounding it. However, it wouldn’t be as strong as it is without government support (on all levels), the incredible work volunteers put into community radio and the tireless efforts of all the people behind the scenes who provide opportunities for bands to perform.
If you could book any 3 bands to play a show, who would they be and why? That’s tough, let’s go with something a little realistic, Savages headline supported by Cable Ties and Spotting.
What has been the ultimate highlight in terms of a show you’ve held there? Any show where the band promotes and are lovely to deal with is a highlight to be honest. Other highlights have been Hollow Everdaze, Doona Waves and Palm Springs packing the venue, A Swayze & The Ghosts, Brad Pot, Dianas plus looking forward to a few more cool things in the coming months.
Finally, what’s happening there for you as part of this year’s Leaps & Bounds? New War are stepping out of the studio for a special intimate show with Rites Wild, Peep Tempel’s Blake Scott is playing a solo show, Iraamin and Tumi The Be will play a free show featuring 30/70’s Allysha Joy and a bucket load of other shows are going down.
