Hawthorn Arts Centre is presenting Strings and Voices, a four-Saturday concert series pairing vocalists with string musicians throughout August, presented by Boroondara Arts & Beat.
The Hawthorn Arts Centre Strings and Voices series opens on 1 August with singer-songwriter Lior performing in a salon-style setup alongside a string quartet.
The same night features violinist and composer Xani Kolac, who joins bassist Meg Kolac for Hymns for Atheists, a set exploring identity and the natural world through a contemporary classical lens.

On 8 August, art-pop artist Georgia Fields teams up with the Andromeda String Quartet, led by violinist Natasha Conrau, blending live looping and layered vocals with orchestral strings.
Ambient pop act Happy Axe, known for close harmonies and nature-inspired themes, rounds out the bill.
The 15 August show brings an amplified, effects-driven take on the harp from Harpedelique Ensemble, led by Liana Perillo with sound design by Fabian Aravalés, drawing on influences from Hans Zimmer to Coldplay.
Sharing the stage is vocal ensemble Invenio, led by Gian Slater, previewing material from their upcoming third album, Fight Eyes.
Closing the series on 29 August is Homophonic!, presenting RESPECT — newly commissioned pieces centred on the experiences of LGBTIQA+ elders, led by Artistic Director Miranda Hill.
Joining them is Melbourne-based composer QiQi, whose work fuses traditional Chinese instrumentation with jazz and contemporary composition, following acclaim for the Fringe-nominated project Elysian Blues.
All four concerts take place at Hawthorn Arts Centre, with shows starting at 7:30pm.
