Georgia Knight’s AMP nomination day soured by St George’s Road robbery

Georgia Knight
words by staff writer

"If you're on High Street, keep your eyes peeled for a wanker with a mono case that says Knight."

Naarm-based singer-songwriter Georgia Knight received a well-deserved nod yesterday, landing a nomination for the Australian Music Prize.

The news was cause for celebration for fans of her otherworldly autoharp-led folk, but the day quickly turned sour when Knight was robbed while packing her car on St George’s Road ahead of a trip to the airport.

Among the items taken were her black-and-white Telecaster guitar — notable for a rat scratched into the back — along with leads, pedals, a telephone mic, books, a harp tuner, and what she suspects includes her diary. The guitar was in a case with her name and mobile number on the front.

Knight took to socials to put the word out:

“Someone just stole my guitar from St George’s Road, if you see it it’s a black and white telecaster with a picture of a rat scratched into the back of it. It’s in a guitar case with my name and mobile number on the front, a bunch of leads and I think my dairy is in there as well, probably. Send me a message if you see it.”

If you spot the guitar or any of the stolen gear around town, get in touch with Georgia here.
