Award-winning artist and storyteller Wāni Toaishara brings his powerful one-person show garçon to Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre.
Presented by Darebin Arts Speakeasy, garçon is a dynamic coming-of-age story, taking audiences on a journey through wāni toaishara’s childhood in Auckland, New Zealand. It is an ode to Black and brown boyhood, told by one of Melbourne’s most adept cross-disciplinary artists, and promises to be a transformative experience that speaks to themes of identity, masculinity, and the journey to manhood.
Recognised for his work that celebrates Black life, representation, dislocation, and Indigeneity, toaishara’s production offers a deeply personal and intimate window into his upbringing.
The one-man show garçon by wāni toaishara runs from JUL 16 to JUL 20 at Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre. Tickets range from $38 full, $30 concession, $33 for Darebin residents, $33 Group 4+, $20 preview, and $10 Blak Tix.
