Time to dust off those garage sale skills and polish up your haggling technique.
Garage Sale Trail 2025 is rolling back into town this November with two epic weekends of secondhand treasure hunting across the country.
Australia’s biggest pre-loved stuff festival returns on 8-9 November and 15-16 November, giving punters two chances to clear out their clutter and maybe score some bargains. Last year saw nearly 300,000 Australians getting involved across more than 13,000 garage sales nationwide, keeping over 755,000 items out of landfill in the process.
This year’s lineup includes some familiar faces backing the cause. ARIA Award-winning musician Montaigne, who represented Australia at Eurovision 2021, joins design icon Beci Orpin and Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis as ambassadors. They’re teaming up with dirtgirl from dirtgirlworld to champion the new Kids Garage Sales initiative.

The organisers have cooked up the Great Aussie Clear Out, a 31-day spring decluttering challenge to help people get sale-ready. Each day features a simple task like clearing the coffee table or sorting through old clothes, with a dedicated Facebook group providing daily support and motivation.
Community sales are expanding this year through partnerships with Grow It Local, Australian Men’s Shed Association, and Australian Neighbourhood Houses & Centres Association. The initiative makes it easier for people without garages to get involved by organising group sales at local venues like libraries, community gardens, and pubs.
The new Kids Garage Sales program teaches children about reducing waste and giving items a second life. Kids can plan their own sales, make price tags and bunting, and colour in promotional posters with help from provided tip sheets.
With climate concerns mounting and cost-of-living pressures affecting one in four Australians, the reuse movement continues gaining momentum. Garage Sale Trail provides free how-to guides, sale tips, and promotional materials to help participants make the most of their weekend sales.
