Ranks was an over-achiever at a young age, making his studio debut with the Ruff Cut band at the young age of 11. Following on from this, he landed a series of killer connections with the likes of Kray Twinz, Twista and MC Lethal B. It was his intial hit for the legenday Peckings crew Mountain Top that really hit the ball out of the park, with its follow-up Heaven In My Eyes providing Gappy with the ultimate home-run – these singles driving him on an unstoppable rocket to stardom. Singles Stinking Rich and Rising Out Of The Ghetto consolidated his success, his impact on the dancehall world mirroring fellow Londoner Amy Winehouse’s impact and revolutionising of the R&B world.
His debut record ‘Put The Stereo On’ was touted as reggae album of 2010, but his amibition doesn’t stop there. This year, the UK dancehall star is back with his second LP ‘Thanks & Praise’ – a modern reggae and dancehall album. On top of all of this, Gappy is also proving to be one of the most popular live draws on the planet, headlining shows across Europe, Asia & USA.
