Fruit Bats

Fruit Bats (USA) – formed as the project of Eric D. Johnson – are one of the most in-demand live acts in indie folk-rock. Eric (who will be familiar to Sound Doctor audiences as part of Bonny Light Horseman) journeys in from the USA to take to the Anglesea Memorial Hall stage, solo, celebrating the 2026 album The Landfill.

Formed in the late 1990s, Fruit Bats grew from songwriter Eric D. Johnson’s four-track recording project into a touring band with an ever-shifting lineup. Constant are Eric’s warm vocals and melodic sensibility, both of which often seem to split the difference between Lennon and McCartney. The Landfill, Fruit Bats’ latest album (out Fri 12 June 12) is something else entirely: a mountain dominating the landscape of Eric Johnson’s heart.

Performing solo on this Australian tour, Eric introduces audience to his latest tunes, alongside some Fruit Bats favourites. This will be a night of indie folk-rock to remember!
