True to Odeon Richmond’s form, there’s a real variety this March - a lineup for the culture vultures and party people alike.

Whether you’re a fan of live English or Greek music, art, DJ sets or just chilling out for a bit of an afternoon boogie, Odeon Richmond has a variety of unique events on offer this month. It’s no surprise from Richmond’s premier arts space and community hub for all things eclectic, expressive and diverse. From blues to glam rock to a photography retrospective, a 90s party, showcase of original Rebetika recordings and live performance, disco nights and long sessions of soul music, it’s all kicking off at Odeon Richmond.

Odeon Richmond’s unique monthly immersive surround sound feature. This time, it’s Talking Heads: first, the Dolby Atmos mix of their  Talking Heads: 77 album, then Jerry Harrison’s original 5.1 mix of Talking Heads’ third album Fear of Music. Audiophiles will be salivating. If you really vibe, you can buy a Surrounded By Sound Membership for $50. That’s entry to every session for the whole of 2025.

Brisbane-based Black Rainbow rock project presents many decades’ fusion of classic rock, blues and heavy metal. Ramping up to the release of their solo album this year, they’re making the trip to Naarm for a night of rock, their way. Known for big, fierce live shows, expect this to be one for the ages. They’re supported by local heavy rock three-piece act, King’s Vengeance.

A week-long exhibition showcasing the 2015-2025 work of specialist music photographer Mark Moray and his images of iconic Australian and international performers. Opening night on Friday, March 14 is a special evening of Odeon Richmond’s signature cocktails, mezze and a gallery preview. Then, Saturday, March 15 features legendary Aussie blues band Collard Greens And Gravy followed by DJ sets. Blues, roots and folk artist Max Katsis performs live on Sunday, March 16 (plus, a BBQ, and who doesn’t love that?). The exhibition is free to the public during the day from March 15-21.    

La Discothèque

Slide into the weekend with DJ Randy Lipz XXX and DJ Bricolage for a set of disco, funk, soul and alternative classics of the 60s, 70s and 80s. No bookings, just boogie while they take you through decades of discothèque. You can dance, you can vibe.

If you’ve got your finger on the party pulse, this is already your Saturday night ritual featuring your favourite Odeon DJs on the decks, DJ Randy Lipz XXX  and DJ Bricolage. They’ll be spinning tracks from their catalogue of genres across synth, punk, glam, rock, industrial and goth, for a heady cocktail of pumping retro sounds that are sure to get your heart going. Move to the rhythm, stay on the pulsebeat, from 8 til late.

LAIKON presents Rebetes: A Brief History

Odeon Richmond proudly presents a first in Australia – a showcase of Rebetiko music (Greek blues) by some of Australia’s most respected ambassadors of this key ingredient of Hellenism. Peter Stathopoulos plays and discusses original 78rpm recordings of some of the most important architects of this sound. Rebetiki Trio will follow with a live performance of Rebetiko music. Did someone say Greek music, dancing and beverages? Opa! Not. To. Be. Missed.
