Gibbs built his name on a run of self-released mixtapes through the 2000s, sketching out the gritty, story-driven sound that still defines him. His first widely distributed release, the Str8 Killa EP, landed in 2010.
From there came a string of studio albums, including the Madlib-produced Piñata in 2014, Shadow of a Doubt in 2015 and You Only Live 2wice in 2017. The mixtape Freddie followed in 2018, with Bandana arriving a year later.
His 2020 record Alfredo, made with The Alchemist and featuring Rick Ross, Tyler, The Creator and Conway the Machine, became his first album to reach the top 20 of the Billboard 200 and picked up a Grammy nomination for best rap album.
Recent years have brought a steady stream of singles, among them Gang Signs, Big Boss Rabbit, Black Illuminati and Ice Cream, feeding a catalogue that keeps expanding.
Gibbs pushed his chart peak higher with 2022’s $oul $old $eparately, which debuted at number 11. He reunited with The Alchemist for Alfredo 2 in 2025, and this year expanded You Only Die 1nce with 10 fresh tracks.
