The tracks start coming and they don’t stop coming. With all the music flooding your socials and streaming platforms, it can be hard to keep up to date. Not to mention the swarm of spotlights currently being shone on all the talented Aussie musicians.
So in you case you missed them, here are some singles released in the last two weeks that are really worth a listen.
‘Give Me My Name Back’ – Meg Mac
This an anthem of empowerment from the singer-songwriter. Looking at the hardship on her news feeds, Meg Mac’s new single is all about reclaiming who you are. The song’s video is directed by Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore, the same director of Her Sound Her Story, a documentary celebrating women in the music industry. Mac’s vocals are as beautiful and heart wrenching as ever.
‘Keep Your Head’ – KONGOS
This South African alternative rock group based in the US debuted ‘Keep Your Head’ on their online podcast The Front Lounge last week. This new single has a strong beat and encourages listeners to stay calm by listening to music. It’ll be part of their new three-part album 1929 releasing in January. The boys will be touring America in early 2019, fingers crossed they visit Australia.
‘Need You’ – Oriental Cravings ft. Evangeline
Evangeline has contributed her haunting voice to this banger by Oriental Cravings. The electronic, indie-pop singer from Victoria has been around since 2015, and she’s only on the rise, having collaborated with the likes of Killboy and William Black. This latest track sees Evangeline’s vocals dance over Oriental Cravings’ dark instrumentals.
‘Save Yourself’ – Mane
Following her support of Kingswood on their Australian tour, Mane has released ‘Save Yourself’. Her explosive yet calming pop vocals are something everyone needs to experience. Her music has caused her to be compared to Lorde and Florence & the Machine. She’s touring Australia in November and you won’t want to miss it. The recordings give you goose bumps, but she’s more amazing live.
