What’s happening at Mamma Chen’s??
A celebration of local Asian artists in a building with a history of hosting a racist (particularly anti-Chinese) organisation, the ANA (Australian Natives Association Friendly Society AKA white men born in Australia) – now home to live music venue, Mamma Chen’s.

Joelistics:
Acclaimed producer, artist, multi-instrumentalist and rapper, Joelistics (Joel Ma) is recognised as a unique voice in the Australian music scene.
As well as his expansive solo catalog, Joel has written for and collaborated with noted artists such as Tim Rogers, Emma Donovan, Ecca Vandal, Moju, Hermitude, Wil Wagner, Parvyn Singh and many more.
Minhy:
Born and raised in Melbourne, Minhy is on her path of living fully and truly, inspired by her family’s refugee journey after the Vietnam War.
From automotive design to now songwriting, she tells stories with a deeper perspective, fused with catchy melodies and poetic lyrics.
Minhy’s influences include Alicia Keys, Grimes, Kimbra and BANKS.
Minhy’s self directed music video for “Dead Of The Night” won Best Music Video at numerous film festivals including the LA Film Awards, New York Film Awards, Top Shorts Festival and more.
Y.C. Liu:
Born in Taipei and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland, Naarm-based singer-songwriter Y.C. Liu is no stranger to migration. Guided by his distinctive, velvet baritone voice, and flickering guitar-chords, his music speaks to the parts of ourselves that emerge when we traverse often difficult and uncertain emotional terrain.
His debut release ‘Some Nights’ has an unmistakable warmth that evokes the image of a family huddled around a campfire at dusk.
Yi Lynn:
Yi-Lynn takes the stage to share her remarkable songwriting. Her arrangements, sparse and deliberate, may be gentle and beautiful yet effortlessly command the attention of a room.
Yi-Lynn’s music can be described as the very best of baroque-pop; unusual structures, exquisite and classic storytelling, and pure, dangerous beauty.
Mamma Chen’s acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, the true owners of the land that we live and operate on. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
