Today, singer-songwriter Rhys Thompson releases his debut single, Nowhere to Be, and announces his signing with artist management company Sensible Antixx. Influenced by storytellers like Justin Townes Earl and Gillian Welch, Thompson’s music blends the traditions of Alt-Country and Americana to bring his narratives to life. Nowhere to Be is a brooding track about seeking escape from routine and life’s challenges. However, the song ultimately reveals that avoidance may not always be the best solution and can lead to ongoing resentment.
Thompson will celebrate the release of Nowhere to Be with a launch event at Abbotsford’s Lulie Tavern on Sunday, 13 October, from 4pm. The event is free entry.
Antony Attridge, director of Sensible Antixx, shares, “We couldn’t be happier to work with such a talented musician as Rhys. With a long-standing friendship and insight into his future works, we feel Rhys will be an incredible force in Australia’s rich folk/Americana scene.”
Thompson adds, “I’m really excited to get this music out there and start playing shows. Nowhere to Be is a song that is close to my heart and has been with me for some time, so having people hear it is a special moment for me.”
