Five Things With Weiss

1. Growing Up

I would say being in my Mum’s car going to the shops listening to Fleetwood Mac or Paul Simon with the sun beating down through the car sunroof.  My mum and dad would listen to music all the time. It was a big factor in our lives, especially the Motown sound.

2. Inspirations

I respect Quincy Jones for everything he has done. Paul Simon, Prince, Metallica, the list just goes on but hearing Michael Jackson (Off The Wall and Thriller) inspired me to get into music. My mum handed me down a big disco/Motown collection of vinyl and have been hooked ever since.

3. Your Crew

I’m very lucky enough to do this for a living. The Toolroom Records crew and I have been working very closely together with this project to make sure we do everything right. I’ll work on many originals but we’re not just putting any old track out. Each track/EP has to be good as the last one.

4. The Music You Make

Just expect a great party! I’ll be dropping a few new originals that I’ve been road testing and been getting great reactions. I’ll also be dropping my remixes of Tube & Berger’s Set it Off and MK’s Always.

5. Music, Right Here, Right Now

The music scene is getting stronger I think. Lots of new nights are opening up in the UK and around the world, catering for the underground house scene. The problem is I hope this scene doesn’t get saturated. I know the EDM scene is on its way out so I hope the same thing doesn’t happen.

Weiss plays at Alumbra on Saturday August 30.
