1. Growing Up
I lived in New Caledonia and was 14 when I got into music and DJing. I was listening and playing a lot of different styles of music. Then I started to play music with electronic beats, discovered the proper beat mix technique and the early DJ culture. Some of the influences were New Order, Lil Louis, Mr. Fingers, Ron Trent, Underground Resistance, Armando and Rhythm is Rhythm.
2. Inspirations
Chicago house and Detroit techno were my first influences in electronic with mentors such as Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Kenny Larkin. Then I got into more European techno with label such as R&S, Peacefrog, Harthouse, Tresor, Soma, Fnac Music/F Communication. Lately, my main inspirations are the Romanians and the early rise of Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano ten years ago. They pushed the border and changed the conception of DJing.
3. Your Crew
I have my own event brand called HELLO as a monthly residency since almost seven years at the legendary Rex Club in Paris who just celebrated 26 years of electronic music. I’m also resident for the Cocobeach Sunday party and part of the French Kitchen Family. This year I will launch my own label and will work in studio on new collaborations with close friends: Cesare Vs Disorder, Quenum, Sierra Sam, Jef K.
4. The Music You Make And Play
I like to play a large spectrum of music (deep, house, microhouse, minimal, techno). My sets are not formatted. Depending on the people, the venue, the moment. i won’t play I same style and the same way but I will always keep a trippy atmosphere and bring some swing in it.
5. Music, Right Here, Right Now
The last couple of years, the Parisian scene is really productive and creative. Paris is burning at the moment. It’s probably as big as London or Berlin. It reminds me how it was at the end of the ’90s. We had a new generation coming really involved in the music and the scene.
