The First record I Bought
The first record I ever bought was Nirvana’s Nevermind at a service station in Horsham when I was 12-years-old. It totally inspired me, and still does. Everything about that record is totally sublime.
The Last Record I Bought
The last record I bought was the debut single Ratja Yaliyali from Gawurra, who is a very talented young Indigenous artist from up in Nhulunbuy, which is the main town in East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. I tour up there quite regularly and am always amazed at the sounds I hear from many of the local Aboriginal artists.
The First Thing I Recorded
The first thing I think I ever recorded way back in 1997 was a cover of Mmmbop by Hanson on my shitty little tape recorder. I burned this cassette tape in the fire two days after to destroy the evidence.
The Last Thing I Recorded
My current album Two Lucky Stars, which features 14 completely acoustic tracks of nine original tunes and five covers. I recorded this with long-time producer Peter “Reggie” Bowman at his studio, Scream Louder Productions in Warrandyte.
The Record That Changed My Life
If I had to pick one, I’d have to say Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Texas Flood album. This was one of my first introductions to electric Texas blues guitar. His tone, phrasing, passion and delivery as a player and singer was instantly infectious and inspiring.
