Fitzroy gets loud with Dead Pretty Fest, featuring eight of Victoria’s brightest new bands

Words by staff writer

Melbourne’s Dead Pretty Fest hits Fitzroy with a stacked lineup that captures Naarm’s raw creativity and underground community spirit.

The debut edition of Dead Pretty Fest is more than just another gig – it’s a celebration of Naarm’s most exciting underground acts and the community that supports them.

Curated by Dead Pretty Bookings, the mini festival will transform The Evelyn Hotel into a melting pot of alternative rock and post‑punk energy on 8 November. With eight bands on the bill and a focus on emerging talent, it aims to capture the grit and creativity of Victoria’s DIY music scene.

On the night you’ll catch the festival’s specially selected lineup: Special Guest, The Mundaynes, Blondehouse, Violet, Convenience Store, Laura and the Hell Cutz, Emma Yue and B‑Sides. The organisers have hand‑picked a mix of Geelong’s surging alternative rock and Melbourne’s buzzing post‑punk sounds.

That means you can bounce from snarling riffs to dreamy melodies while sharing the dancefloor with friends new and old – all in one venue. Tickets are limited and the event is strictly 18‑plus, so getting in early is a must.

Behind the scenes is Dead Pretty Bookings, a boutique agency that’s earned a reputation for championing emerging artists through intimate shows and thoughtfully curated lineups. Founded earlier this year, the collective is dedicated to building a platform for local musicians and fostering a supportive, artist‑first culture.

Dead Pretty Fest marks their largest project yet, and they hope it ignites a renewed love for the local live music scene. With a single stage and an inclusive atmosphere, the festival promises a night where everyone can come together to celebrate the next wave of Victorian music.

“Dead Pretty Fest is about creating a space where friends, fans and artists can come together to celebrate everything that is special about Melbourne music,” says festival director Sarah Russell (Dead Pretty Bookings).

“I want it to feel like the kind of night that reignites people’s love for the local music scene.”
