This electrifying array of musical delights features some of the best world-class blues, roots, gospel and soul talent announced so far for Bluesfest 2011.

Three Bluesfest sideshow concert tours have been unveiled, all featuring Grammy award-winning artists that represent the pinnacle of their genre.

First off we have the new generation of guitar-slinging royalty and American roots and blues songwriting – husband and wife duo The Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Band supported by the amazing funk soul pedal-steel master guitarist Robert Randolph and the Family Band.

These musicians, who have both made Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Guitarists of All Time, put on a show that is an absolute must for all guitar lovers.

Inidivdual virtuosos in their own right, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi blaze a soaring mix of material from their own albums (plus some brand new and borrowed songs), re-working them into a ‘tour de force’ of rock n blues.

The next sideshow is A Gospel Celebration! Not just one or two, but a legion of amazing artists will take the stage when the living legends of real-deal gospel music are joined by one of the most loved and sweetest voices in music.

Yes, it’s the irrepressible Blind Boys of Alabama featuring Aaron Neville. Opening proceedings will be none other than Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer, inspirational vocalist Mavis Staples.

Five-time Grammy award winners The Blind Boys will perform an uplifting meld of gospel, blues and rock n’ roll, with their joyous shows filled with laughter and packed with emotion.

And if you thought that was all, get ready for some big news.

One of Louisiana’s finest and a wonderful singer from the birthplace of jazz, Irma Thomas is coming here for her first ever Australian tour. The Soul Queen of New Orleans is responsible for cutting some of the finest ever soul music in the history of New Orleans, and she remains one of America’s most distinctive, classic and powerful singers.
