Festival 23 has unveiled its first announcement for the upcoming Urban Gathering, set to take place on 25 January 2025.
This indoor/outdoor event promises a mix of daytime and nighttime activities, offering a unique and immersive experience for attendees.
Breaking away from tradition, the festival is spotlighting its lead visual artist, Benjamin Knock as the first reveal. Known for awe-inspiring installations, the artist’s previous explorations at Festival 23 have taken attendees to the centre of the earth (2020) and Iceland (2023). For this edition, the artist will delve into the beauty of volcanoes he has visited around the globe. Venue details and the full lineup, including DJs, will be announced next week. Described as a playful gathering of artists and like-minded individuals, the event unfolded in Victoria’s beautiful Macedon Ranges over three days and nights from January 27–29, 2023.
The festival’s motto, “Leave better than you came,” set the tone for an event that proved unique in the world of electronic festivals. Taking place during the height of summer, Festival 23 stood out as an intimately sized, community-built, immersive celebration of electronic music, arts, and camping. It featured a carefully curated lineup of innovative international acts alongside a broad domestic offering.
The real highlight was the music. Festival 23 showcased a mature, beautifully assembled lineup of internationally renowned producers and selectors, demonstrating a deep understanding of the electronic music scene.
