Fed Square's brand new literary series, Body of Work, is kicking off this August with two of Australia's most celebrated writers.
Body of Work is a year-long series of free literary events curated by editor and author Jaclyn Crupi, presented by Fed Square.
Rather than zeroing in on a single new release, each event takes a wider lens, tracing the full arc of a writer’s creative life, from early work and formative ideas through to the books that have left a real mark on Australian literature.

The inaugural program opens on 6 August with Helen Garner in conversation with Michael Williams, editor of The Monthly.
Over more than 50 years, Garner has worked across novels, short stories, screenplays, diaries and non-fiction, a body of work that spans Monkey Grip and The Children’s Bach through to This House of Grief and her most recent co-written non-fiction title, The Mushroom Tapes.
She’s long been known for blurring the boundaries between forms, drawing on her own life in both her fiction and non-fiction work.
Then on 24 September, Booker Prize-shortlisted author Charlotte Wood joins curator Jaclyn Crupi for a deep dive into a career built on creative risk and psychological complexity.
Across ten books, seven novels and three non-fiction works, Wood has returned repeatedly to themes of feminism, grief, female rage, solitude and spirituality.
Her novel The Natural Way of Things took out both the Stella Prize and the Prime Minister’s Literary Award, while Stone Yard Devotional landed on shortlists and best-of lists around the world in 2024 and 2025.
Both events run from 6pm to 7.30pm and are completely free, though registration is required.
Further authors and event details will be announced as the series continues throughout the year.
