The four-day festival was cancelled this morning.

Just one day into its four day stretch, the organisers of Falls Festival have announced the cancellation of its Lorne run due to “predicted extreme weather conditions” for Monday December 30.

Attendees will receive a full refund for their tickets and have been advised to travel home immediately or seek temporary accommodation.

“Forecasted conditions have gotten significantly worse in the past 12 hours, with information coming to light that has not been available to us before the event kicked off on December 28th,” reads the statement issued by festival organisers this morning.

“After consultation with local and regional fire authorities and other emergency stakeholders, it is clear that we have no other option. While conditions are fine at time of writing, we are taking the opportunity to move everyone offsite safely and in good time.”

Food, medical and sanitary facilities will remain open all day today December 29, however music and bars will not be operating. Gates to the event site will close on Monday December 30 at 9am.
