Falls Festival cancels 2020/21 event

Words by Tom Parker

The beloved summer festival has made the call.

In early May, Falls Festival announced it would be going ahead over the 2020/21 New Year period with an all-Australian lineup with international touring presently out of the picture. The event was set to raise money for Support Act and celebrate not just Australian artists, but Aussie roadies, crew, management, agents and beyond.

Now, as a result of the ongoing disruptions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival has announced the difficult cancellation of its forthcoming event.

In a statement to their fans, the festival said it was doing everything they could to forge ahead but the ongoing uncertainty rendered it too difficult, especially considering the ongoing border closures that remain in place across the country.

Nevertheless, while Falls will be taking the year off, its absence on the festival calendar is only a raincheck for the next instalment that awaits.

As we work with government stakeholders and key agencies to get Falls Festival back in the calendar, as always your safety is our priority. Consider this a raincheck, and please know we will be back with more information as it comes to hand.”
