Here’s your guide to what’s happening in City of Yarra this Record Store Day.

Record Store Day Australia has teamed up with Leaps and Bounds Music Festival and City of Yarra for the second installment of Record Store Day 2021 to bring you a sprawling vinyl party happening at record stores throughout the inner north.

Featuring a massive spread of in-store performances, album and single launches, and sales, you won’t want to miss out on all the fun going down for RSD on Saturday July 17.

To help you put together a game plan, we’ve rounded up what’s going on where as part of the Leaps and Bounds Record Store Day Vinyl Party.

Keep up with the latest music interviews, news and reviews here.

Plug Seven Records

Prepare to do some serious crate-digging at Plug Seven Records this Saturday. As well as slinging a slate of RSD special releases, there’ll be discount crates, pick packs and loads more goodies to get your hands on.

A real Plug Seven affair, RSD will see beloved, OG staff member Izabel on the decks after spending several years living abroad, joined by local P7 favourites, DJs Sophie San and Billie-Jean between 12pm and 4pm.

Even if you go home empty-handed (which, let’s face it, is highly unlikely), you’ll still have a ball perusing the selection and listening to back-to-back bangers while you browse.

Head to Plug Seven Records from 10am-6pm to get in on the action.

Vinyl Space

For beers and bargains, Vinyl Space is your RSD destination. They’ll be offering 20 per cent off everything in store for purchases over $50, plus you’ll get a free can of Bodriggy Pilsner for spending $20.

There will be a bunch of giveaways and prizes up for grabs, with details to come on the day, plus a DJ laying down tracks from 2pm until 5pm.

Head to Vinyl Space between 10am until 6pm to grab a bargain.

Oh Jeans! Records

Oh Jeans! Records is bringing it with their vinyl party, with a bunch of RSD releases, discounts, giveaways, and more. To keep you energised while you knuckle down on those crates, they’ll be slinging coffee throughout the day, too.

Plus, DJs Kyle Minogue, Eddie Gardens, and MeloTone will be bringing the funk on the decks.

What more could you want?

Get down to Oh Jean! Records from 10am until 5pm to check it out.

Licorice Pie Records

Licorice Pie Records are taking the party outside this RSD, spilling into the Collingwood Yards precinct in which the store resides.

From 12pm until 4pm, you can catch the likes of  Mr. Geoffrey AKA Geoff Nees, Billie-Jean, Matt McFetridge, Woody McDonald, and Green Child DJs (aka Raven Mahon and Total Control’s Mikey Young) slinging tunes.

Plus, you can stay hydrated with Young Henrys tinnies while you chase some cheap buys.

It’s happening from 12pm until 5pm at Licorice Pie Records

Natural Selection

Not only will there be DJs spinning wax all day at Natural Selection for RSD, but they will be welcoming two bands for live in-store performances.

On the live music front, you can expect sets from Beatnik Collective and The Rookies, while Ed Kent, Yi Lum, Mr Pitiful, and DJ Ingrid will be hitting the decks throughout the afternoon.

And of course, it wouldn’t be Record Store Day without some red hot discounts and special releases.

Head to Natural Selection between 12pm and 6pm to check it out.

Strangeworld Records

Strangeworld Records is keeping tight-lipped about what its RSD party will hold, but we do know there will be discounts and a free BBQ courtesy of a guest chef.

Looks like you’ll just have to head down on the day and find out the rest for yourself.

Drop into Strangworld Records to grab a bargain.

Skydiver Records

Skydiver Records is making up for the in-store celebrations they couldn’t run last RSD, bringing a huge slate of DJ sets and live music to their Johnston Street digs for drop two.

Tunes will be courtesy of Bridget Small, EXEK, Gab Cole, Jess Sneddon, Meg 4X4, Mugagga, and Zjoso.

Come ready to dance and shop until you drop.

It’s happening from 11am until 6pm at Skydiver Records

Wah Wah Records

Sales? Check! Beers? Check! Live tunes? Check! It’s all happening at Wah Wah Records this RSD.

Kicking off with an in-store set from sister folk duo, Charm of Finches followed by a rollicking performance by Goldminds, the party will be pumping all day long.

Make your way down to Wah Wah Records from 9am until 6pm to get amongst it.

Northside Records

Northside Records is shutting down Little Smith Street for a free, all-ages car park gig featuring some special, secret guests whose identities will be revealed on Thursday.

Inside, you can expect to find exclusive releases by the likes of Ruel, DJ Peril and Proto Moro, as well as a stack of international RSD drops.

The gig is going down from 5pm. Be the first to know who’s playing by signing up to the Northside Records e-newsletter.
