After a huge year-long redevelopment, Brunswick’s newest music hub, Wick Studios is ready to open. The state-of-the-art complex has been transformed from an old 13-room rehearsal studio and empty warehouse into a cutting-edge hub with two recording studios, two live music areas, a full size photo and video studio and 15 soundproofed rehearsal rooms.

“It has been a dream of ours to renovate the facility to streamline and improve our ability to serve our clients, not only as effectively as possible but to make the experience of our clients easier, more productive and more enjoyable,” said CEO Glenn Scott. “The PA technology installed in each room will also allow a more productive and enjoyable working experience. All PAs are all over-spec’d and thus will never be overworked, ensuring a louder, clearer sound.”

And in a move unparalleled in Australia, Wick Studios will also offer artist development services including in-house photographers and music video directors, marketing and A&R professionals, music industry legal support and graphic design. Not only will bands be able to rehearse in an affordable, high-end environment, but they will be able to demo and pre-produce their records from the same rooms.

“Every room’s console will be multi-track enabled meaning artists can multi-track record their rehearsals to their laptop from any room,” noted Scott. “Every room in the facility will potentially be able to digitally wire to any other room essentially turning the facility into a 15 isolated room recording studio.”

“Essentially what we have done is set up a one-stop-shop for bands. Everyone working on this project has previously been a touring musician, and we know the processes involved in being an independent artist back to front,” added Nelli Huie, a representative of Wick Studios. “Bands can write, rehearse, pre-produce, record, mix, master, shoot album art, film video clips, and launch their records without even leaving the building. Not even for a coffee or a beer – there’s a proper coffee machine, baristas, and beer taps in the front lounge! I’ve jammed in almost every rehearsal venue in Melbourne and a number overseas, and I’ve never seen anything like this before. This is a truly world-class space. We have so much talent here in Australia, and it’s incredible that such an epic investment has been made into our musical community.”
