Ever wanted to deliver a eulogy to someone still alive? Better Off Said is coming to Brunswick

Better Off Said

Is there something you always wish you’d shouted aloud, someone still out there in the world waiting to hear an important message, a piece of history you feel your voice could have improved?

Better Off Said: Eulogies for the Living and Dead is a spoken-word art salon – an afternoon of words it’s time to air.

Presented by Emilie Zoey Baker and Marieke Hardy, and featuring comedian Kirsty Webeck, actor and writer Gemma Bird Matheson, hip-hop artist N’fa Jones, broadcaster and host Libbi Gorr.

Plus, cook, restaurateur, living eulogist and living treasure Stephanie Alexander AO and a musical performance from Feign Jima.

From members of the team behind the international literary phenomenon Women of Letters, comes a spoken-word art salon celebrating words, stories, and human experiences.

It’s the opportunity to leave no verbal stone unturned. To find your closure. To sing your truth from the rooftops before it’s too late.

“There are times when we find ourselves caught up in spiral, overthinking those unsaid comments or responses that scream to be let out,” Zoey Baker said.

“Better Off Said is a platform to release these words in a composed and cathartic way. It may be a comeback line, a confession, revenge or even a compliment.”

“Humans often just accept that everything and everyone dies,” Hardy said.

“We’ve curated a space where we can all reflect on love, loss, healing and letting go together. It’s a privilege to even be able to sit in this realm and ruminate. To listen and learn. I never want to take for granted life’s impermanence.”
