The opening track from McGuinness’ bolshy new album (The Invitation To The Voyage, out now) has elements of Fashion-era Bowie – a stripped down disco strut, an edge of hysteria in the vocals, an overwhelming sense of style. McGuinness has been brewing something complicated for a while and it’s just come to the boil – electric, suave and deeply satisfying.
