“It is maddening these unfortunate but unavoidable circumstances mean that our three sold-out nights at Sydney Opera House and a return to the Palais in St. Kilda must also be rescheduled."

As revealed in a statement posted to Byron Bay Bluesfest’s Facebook, Elvis Costello and The Imposters have had to cancel their upcoming festival appearance, citing COVID in a key member of the band. They have announced their rescheduled Australian dates for April next year, which will see them heading to Melbourne’s own Palais Theatre on April 4, 2024.

“We are so disappointed not to be returning to the stages at Byron Bay, where we had plans to surprise you with a few friends joining the show,” says Elvis Costello.

“It is maddening these unfortunate but unavoidable circumstances mean that our three sold-out nights at Sydney Opera House and a return to the Palais in St. Kilda must also be rescheduled.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience and hope that the wait will seem worthwhile when we return.”

Among his 600 published titles, Costello is perhaps best known for the songs, Alison, Pump It Up, Everyday I Write The Book, while a popular concert favourite is Nick Lowe’s ever-timely “What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace Love and Understanding.

He has appeared worldwide with The Attractions, first visiting Australia in 1978, then in solo performance in 1984 and with Steve Nieve in 1999.  For the last twenty years he has toured and recorded with The Imposters – Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas, Davey Faragher – and they will be joined on these dates by guest guitarist, Charlie Sexton.

If you already have tickets, they will be valid for the new dates.
