Electronic: Jennifer Loveless comes to New Guernica, Friendships help you celebrate Halloween, and The Black Moy take over My Aeon

This Thursday October 19, long-running Thursday night party Dance Technique at New Guernica is hosting the local talent that is. Having played the likes of Camp Nong, Daydreams, Gaytimes, Strawberry Fields, Rose Quartz Festival in Tassie, World Pride in Toronto and The Great Wall of China Music Festival in Beijing, the globetrotting Jennifer Loveless can be found most weekends bringing her finest aural delights to your favourite Melbourne clubs. She also presents the weekly radio show Weatherall on 87.6 KISS FM. Kicks off at 10pm.

On Friday, Club Derange are hosting the second annual Halloween Masquérave Ball (very clever guys) at Hugs&Kisses. On board for the debauchery are the ‘hard as steel cap boots, soft as dust kisses’ beat-makers Friendships doing a live set, alongside selectors Hysteric, Simon TK and old mate Harold.  If Friendships’ recent Facebook photo updates are anything to go by, it appears the goth-theremin master Miles Brown will be joining them for a special late-night death rave set. If you’ve never seen that wizard perform, you’re in for a treat – the man is an absolute master of the relatively obscure instrument. Kicks off at 11pm and you’ll probably want to get there early-ish.

On Saturday night, techno institution Machine is back at My Aeon, this time featuring Machine’s most prolific in-house label signee The Black Moy from France. The Black Moy is known for his tight, high-production values and enormous sound. With a foundation laid upon solid beat structures, mesmerising atmospherics and unexpected change-ups, The Black Moy’s compositions are characterised by an enormity of space and a density of sound. Joining him is fellow Machine label signee Composite Cone with new collaborator Klaps, residents Simon Slieker and Andrew Till, Syme Tollens and DJ Elscorcho. Projections vibing on the geometric Machine design aesthetic will be provided by VDMO. Kicks off at 10pm.
