This Friday February 9, the boundary pushers at Club Derange are back at Hugs&Kisses, this time themed as ‘Pleather Planet,’ with a “no pleather, no entry” rule. Soundtracking your cruise across the microbead-filled seas is Harold doing his Dreamweaver show, Millu and Plastic Dreams. Kicks off at 11pm. Over at the Corner Hotel, Austin-based synthwave quartet S U R V I V E are back in town for a post-Laneway Festival show. Famed for the Stranger Things theme, the Netflix show has given their careers probably the biggest leg-up possible. Their live show sees wall synthesisers and drum machines combined with a custom light show to drive home that ‘80s neon aesthetic.

Up north at My Aeon, Berlin-based techno duo Cassegrain are here to demolish a few hours for Stranger. With a label résumé that includes Prologue, Infrastructure New York, Killekill, and Ostgut Ton – as well as highly regarded performances at Berghain, Village Underground, and Output – Cassegrain have more than stamped their name on the scene. Alex Tsiridis and Hüseyin Evirgen – the two artists behind Cassegrain – formed the project after a chance meeting at the Redbull Music Academy in Barcelona. In the years following, they collaborated remotely via email, sending stems back and forth before making a move to Berlin where they currently share a studio. Local support from Andrew Till b2b Simon Slieker, Hyper Binary, Concealed, Edward Richards and Arteq Productions takeover upstairs with Machete, Kirk Chetcuti and Karl Devic. Kicks off at 10pm.

On Saturday at Lounge, Lucid are throwing a Voyage Recordings showcase. Andy Hart, the man behind Voyage Records, has been a pillar of the Melbourne house community for many years. As well as running Voyage he co-founded the Melbourne Deepcast podcast/label and plays in the Wax’o Paradiso DJ trio. He’ll be Djing alongside Voyage alumni Urulu, Adi Toohey, Albrecht La’Brooy (live) and Roza Terenzi. Kicks off at 10pm.

On Sunday, Daydreams, Melbourne’s favourite day-party is back for another boogie under the Gasometer’s open roof. On board for the sesh are Arlie Being, Mickey Edwards, Pocock and Simon TK doing their sun-drenched house and disco thing. Kicks off at 2pm.
