The brother duo, recognised as some of the finest Qawwali musicians in the world, will be bringing their hypnotic, vocal-driven performance exclusively to Fed Square for Eid celebrations.

Led by powerful vocalists who loop through multiple verse-chorus sequences, the ensemble features three generations of family members. Their musical lineage is impressive – Fareed and Abu were taught by their father, the esteemed Ustad Munshi Raziuddin, who hails from the Qawwal Bachchon Ka gharana, a tradition founded by Amir Khusrow students in 14th-century Delhi.

The evening promises to be a sensory treat with the brothers’ mesmerising vocals rich in poetic and mystical symbolism, supported by harmonium, tabla and dholak instruments, as well as rhythmic handclapping.

This isn’t just any gig – the brothers have performed to massive crowds worldwide, created film music, and made special appearances at prestigious international events including the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall in 2017. Their talent was officially recognised when they received the Pride of Performance Award from the President of Pakistan in 2020.

The celebration extends beyond the music, with the event also featuring the Salammobile Rumi installation by artist Sohail Yamin – a colourfully painted car featuring messages of peace and compassion – alongside free henna art and food trucks serving Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisine, including Somali tea.

Presented by Fed Square and SalamFest, this exclusive concert welcomes all who celebrate Eid, as well as anyone interested in experiencing world-class Qawwali music in the heart of Melbourne.
