Revs
Naarm punks Priorities are going to tear the Revolver Bandroom a new one in August.
Words by Michael Pasahidis

Rev your engines, it's Revolver in August. Chapel Street's main attraction has a busy August planned so we've got your schedule all figured out.

We wouldn’t be a Melbourne magazine without covering Revolver’s upcoming month of shows and their bandroom is taking centre stage (pun shamelessly intended).

It seems like forever that Melburnians have frequented Revolver Upstairs for mind-boggling, night-enduring odes to techno – the venue is world-renowned for providing such. However, incredible bands from near and afar have also been lighting up the Revs bandroom for eons, making for the incredible dynamic at Revs that provides for all.

So without further ado, we proudly present August at Revs. Go get ’em!

The bandroom’s going to get HEAVY. With “bone-crushing breakdowns” and “savage solos”, Revs has never been more metal. You need not look further than the gig poster to see what this one’s all about. There’ll be riffs, energy and solos that’ll melt even the most impervious of metal-head faces. Don’t miss your opportunity to shake the Revs band room to hell and back.

  • I Was Asleep single launch
  • Support from GUSH and ZERO CITY

Adelaide group TONIX are touring their new single I Was Asleep, an effort they claim recreates “a festival sound”. That’s right, they’re basically bringing a festival to Revs if you think about it. A debut show for Adelaide act GUSH, as well as support from Melbourne locals ZERO CITY, the band room will be bumping this particular Saturday night. Get your tickets here.

The Plot Twist are headlining their biggest show yet, taking to the Revs bandroom. A good old rock and roll band, these guys know how to have a good time. Their support matches their vibe and there are prizes to be won on the night, what more could a humble gig-goer ask for? Grab your tickets here, and we’ll see you there!

Full disclosure, tickets for this one have actually already sold out. For those of you who managed to grab one, we assume you know what you’re in for. For those who want to know what they’re missing, these two are UK rap icons. They’re bringing a notoriously off-the-charts show to the very busy bandroom in August, an announcement that saw tickets literally disappear in front of the eyes of many poor punters. A second show has popped up in Melbourne, hopefully you have better luck with that one!

Ned Bennett

  • August 25
  • Support from a special guest

Ned Bennett is skyrocketing through the Melbourne dance scene, and he’ll be showcasing exactly why at Revs. Presented as part of Thick As Thieves’ Winter Series, Bennett will be tearing through his stylistically diverse discography to offer something new up to the Revs crowd. It’ll be another morning show, so please pace yourselves and enjoy safely! Your tickets await here.
