Dyan Tai Vs Xanathopan

1. Tell us about Xanthopan and how you guys hooked up.

Xanthopan is the natural step in the evolution of dance music, as it unlocks dormant memes such as rave and trance, and reconfigures them for use in left of centre electro.

2. Do you see yourselves expanding into a full band – what’s the plan?

We create abridged epic musical journeys, and if that requires a trombone and a triangle down the track, we’ll add them.

3. What can we expect from your set this Thursday?

Think short stories about space travel, then multiply by dancing.

4. Which one of these Melbourne support acts are you the most excited about?

I am extremely excited to see all of them, but I’m expecting cool stuff from Greenmatics.

5) How is it like touring and working with Dyan Tai?

He is the easiest guy in the world to work with, because he’s honest, he’s not a prima donna and he has style!

Xanathopan asks Dyan Tai

1. Tell us about Dyan Tai, where did it all start?

I was classically trained in piano and violin. After I completed all my grades, I ventured into electronic pop music and never looked back. My songwriting style is very pop but my vocals are very inspired by R’n’B soul.

2. Do you see yourself expanding into a full band at somepoint?

I’ve always been a one-man band and it makes touring a lot easier. I would love to expand and have a bigger sound. I did my EP launch with a three piece band. It would be cool to have some dancers as well with ’80s fluoro outfits, big hair and a lot of booty on stage.

3. What can we expect from your set this Thursday?

Disco ball keytar, beatbox, sampling and a lot of sparkles and sequins.

4. Which one of these Melbourne support acts are you the most excited about?

I’m very excited to see everyone but if I had to pick one it would be Ryan Davies. I love a singer who is able to strip back all the electronics and just focus on singing and delivering a good vocal performance.

5. How is it like touring and working with and Xantophan?

Danny and Anna are very down to earth and very humble, and we’re very supportive of each others music.
