Japan's multi-instrumentalist and Oscar-winning filmmaker reunite for a groundbreaking multimedia experience at Melbourne Recital Centre.
The pair behind the acclaimed soundtrack for Drive My Car are set to transform Elisabeth Murdoch Hall with GIFT – a compelling blend of silent film and live musical performance that reimagines their collaboration on Evil Does Not Exist.
Set in tranquil Mizubiki Village, the narrative follows Takumi and his daughter Hana, whose peaceful existence amid nature faces upheaval when plans emerge for a luxury campsite in their community. As Hamaguchi’s visual poetry unfolds, Ishibashi weaves an intricate live score that creates a constantly evolving cinematic experience.
