Dream In Colour Kidz are back after a few years on sick leave

Dream In Colour Kidz

'Doctor' is the first single off their much awaited second album, drawing inspiration from King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and Amyl and the Sniffers.

Consisting of Andy Jay (Guitar, vocals), Stephen Skrumf (Bass, vocals), Mykel Gillard (Drums, Vocals) and Reece Starkey (Lead Guitar), Melbourne indie surf punks Dream In Colour Kidz are back promoting the lead single off their upcoming sophomore album.

Their debut, D.I.C.K placed the bloody gaping jaws of a great white shark beneath D.I.C.K in giant bold letters, and you can read our review of it here.

What you need to know

‘Doctor’ is a little more personal, recreating the feeling of being stuck in your room incapacitated by grief asking for anyone to help escape the situation.

Mykel witnessed his flatmate go through a bad break up, crying every day for months, “It was heartbreaking to watch, there was nothing anyone could do for my flatmate.”

At the same time, Andy had a few undiagnosed issues related with his health, causing him to almost die twice due to a disorder before depression set in. It was painful for the rest of the band to see and go through, because Andy is normally such a happy funny dude.

The lyrics “Mystery inside of me is tearing me apart” is about that, but you’ll be happy to know Andy is now back on track.

Dream In Colour Kidz believe it’s a song that all can relate to now, the slow encroach of the four walls of your bedroom, and that dark feeling that will not leave your body, no matter how hard you try; with friends unable to come visit or help in that situation.

They’re releasing a new song every month till the full release of their second album. Go have a skate, barbie and maybe a few darts to kill the time because it’s not too far away.
