Don’t miss out on the tacos at Section 8’s Brooklyn Block Party

Fitzroy hole-in-the-wall Little Hop will be serving up the snacks at this free all-day rager.

Little Hop isn’t the kind of place where you’ll be flicking through pages upon pages of menu items, struggling to make up your mind. It’s quite the opposite, in fact – their selection is refined and confident. They know that whatever they’re serving up, you’re going to like it.

On February 18, the Mexican joint will be going back to its pop-up roots as a part of the annual Brooklyn Block Party bonanza. A collaboration between Section 8, Ferdydurke and the Brooklyn Brewery, the 3pm to 3am event is a celebration of Afro-Latino culture and music.

The party is set to take place in Tattersalls Lane and feature performances by NYC-based Nitty Scott, Queen P, Cris Gamble, IJALE and many more. It’s 12 hours long, so once you’ve worked up an appetite from dancing the day away, make sure you fuel up with a plate of the famous Little Hop fish taco and a sizable swig of Brooklyn lager.

Little Hop was practically designed to be paired with music and beer. The soundtrack to the small Brunswick Rd storefront is strictly vinyl-only and they are open late into the night, encouraging patrons to lean into the Mexican spirit. Owner Huge Tremayne has a soft spot for craft beers as well – the bar fridges are stocked with a rotating cast of colourful cans.

At the Brooklyn Block Party, both vegetarian and carnivorous options will be up for grabs as the perfect accompaniment to the banging live music and visuals.

“Brooklyn beers, bouncing basslines, banging tacos. Nuff`said,” says Hugo.
