DJ Darcy Justice, Parvyn, Rum Jungle and more to play free gigs across West Set’s huge final weekend

West Set

With a portion of event bar sales being donated to Victorians affected by floods, West Set’s final weekend of programming is not one to miss.

It’s the final weekend of West Set’s epic free festival that’s taking over the west and they’re going out with a bang this weekend, from Friday October 28 until October 30. Taking place across four iconic westside venues; Railway Reserve, Kindred Studios, La Palmas and Chasing Sound, entry to all gigs is free.

The amazing lineup is courtesy of partnerships with Kindred Studios, the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, multi-disciplinary studio ThinOzone, and local tastemakers and curators Finding Figaro. West Set 2022 will be part of On The Road Again, a Victorian government initiative to support the return of live music events across Victoria.

For West Sets’ final week, a portion of bar sales from every venue will fund much-needed items or services for people impacted by flooding in Victoria.

One of the aspects of this year’s festival we’re most excited about is the pop-up venue Las Palmas, which will turn the Footscray Library forecourt into a 19450’s inspired Latin/Cuban-styled jazz bar. City of Maribyrnong are aiming to give attendees a first-hand taste of the myriad cultures that call west Melbourne home, with Ethiopian cafes surrounding the library on Barkly street.

“One of our performers, Solomon Sisay, works and performs in a little Ethiopian café just 500 [metres] from here and you can often hear the sounds of Ethiopian jazz filter out the back and through Footscray on Saturday nights – I really like that and wanted to have this pop-up venue do the same,” says Paul Shea, Maribyrnong City Council’s coordinator of festivals and visitation.
