Diving into the SXSW Sydney lineup: everything you need to know about October’s mega festival

SXSW Sydney
Words by Juliette Salom

Strap in and listen up - these are all the artists (announced so far) that are playing at SXSW Sydney this October 13 to 19.

With less than a few weeks to go until SXSW Sydney descends on the coastal capital, it’s time to start planning which artists you plan to catch at the event’s massive music festival. Bursting at the seams with over 130 musicians taking on the Sydney stages, the pool of selection contains just the right balance of old favourites and new discoveries.

Over 400 conference sessions, 150 professional development opportunities, 95 film screenings, 150 games and 400 brand-led events will unfold across SXSW Sydney’s 7 days of industry connection and creative showcasing, plus a whopping 300 music performances making some noise. From headlining gigs to showcase parties, SXSW Sydney promises a music festival unlike any other in the country.

Music fans are treated to a melting pot of genre, style, experience and culture across SXSW Sydney’s program. Artists from every corner of the globe will be touching down on Sydney’s shores to show industry insiders and music lovers alike what they’re made of.

From artists like Indian electronic music producer and bassist Hashbass to American indie rockers The Thing, plus a dash of hometown heroes in local bands like Folk Bitch Trio and Body Type, there’s no shortage of music – no matter your taste.

Elsewhere at the event, punters can also get in on the conversation with SXSW Sydney’s curated program of speakers, panels and conferences. Amongst the extensive list of industry experts and music business legends, famed Grammy-nominated American singer-songwriter Teddy Swims will be leading the charge as the keynote speaker for SXSW Sydney’s music festival conference. Fans that are keen to get a rare behind-the-scenes insight into Teddy Swims’ career will need to grab a Platinum or Pro Pass wristband, which also grants access to the entire music conference program.

For fans just wanting to catch a glimpse of the bucketload of musicians performing, a music festival wristband is the one and only ticket you need to secure access. Once you’ve got that sorted, all you need to do is nail down the lineup from some of the 150+ artists (and still counting) that will be performing. After that? Get out there and enjoy the music.
