The book is written by Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang, with the story adapted from Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs. At its core, Tarzan explores themes of identity, love and the universal quest for connection.

The production was originally produced on Broadway by Disney Theatrical Productions and is licensed exclusively by Music Theatre International Australasia. The musical incorporates aerial choreography to represent Tarzan’s movement through the jungle canopy.

James Terry Collective brings Green Room Award-winning experience to the Melbourne production. The company has announced this as an exclusive staging for Melbourne audiences at The National Theatre in St Kilda.

Phil Collins’ musical contributions include songs that became popular beyond the original animated film. The Academy Award recognition for You’ll Be in My Heart demonstrates the broader cultural impact of the musical elements.

The presale opens on 10 June for those who join the waitlist, providing early access to tickets before general sales begin. The waitlist system allows interested audiences to receive priority booking opportunities.
