This Melbourne quartet have a sophomore album due out in spring which, judging by the single, will be a cruising inner city take on adult contemporary. In their press release, the band compares Vacant Sea to the sound of Neil Finn, which is both generous and reasonably accurate – the song is mild-mannered and melody-driven pop rock of a non-threatening beige tenor. Singer-songwriter Luke Thomas sounds like Damon Albarn every now and again, but that’s about as exciting as it gets.
