The new delivery option is available now.
As precautionary measures against the spread of coronavirus increase, Deliveroo has launched a contact-free option for their food delivery service.
Although the Australian Government Department of Health has said the chance of COVID-19 spreading through food is very unlikely, Deliveroo have rolled out the option as an extra precaution.
“As the cases of COVID-19 increase we want to share details of a brand new feature we have introduced in our app to help keep everyone using our platform – riders, restaurants and customers – safe during this time,” said a spokesperson for the service in a statement.
The option of contact-free delivery in now available when making an order through the Deliveroo app. Orders will be left on the doorstep of the delivery address, with riders instructed to remain at a distance of at least one metre until they have witnessed the order being retreived.
Both delivery drivers and those ordering through the app are able to request contact-free delivery.
