Having sold out their Kew Court House show in 2023, the Deans of Soul return to Naarm Melbourne’s inner-East to light up Hawthorn Arts Centre.
The original sound of Melbourne soul, the band are bringing the big-band experience and full ensemble to the main hall at Hawthorn Arts Centre.
The Deans are two decades into a collaboration that’s like family. The Master of the Stratocaster, singer/songwriter and guitarist Linc Yow Yeh is a Goreng Goreng man raised in Jagera Country, with traditional ancestry in Bundaberg and Darumbal Country, Rockhampton.
Drummer Bradley Boon is a Kurnai man from Gippsland. He lays down the heartbeat of The Deans with a groovy fatback feel.
Bass player Nick Larkins is a musical nomad from Lutruwita/Tasmania who has played with ARIA award winning acts Wild Pumpkins At Midnight, Dan Rumour (The Cruel Sea) and others.
The Deans also feature the heartbreaking vocals of soul divas Sophie Dickson and Sophie Agostinello, Phoebe Elsworth on keys, and horn players Emelia Wilmot and Basil Byrne.
The Deans merge old school soul and funk with elements of cool rocksteady, rhythm and blues.
Their velvet smooth vocals, sweet harmonies and soaring heartbreak guitar evoke deep Motown bass grooves and hip-shaking rhythms.
Allocated seating at cabaret tables. The Arts Bar opens at 7pm. Companion Cards are welcomed at this event.
