The David Dower Trio, led by Australian pianist and composer David Dower, is known for their innovative hybrid of jazz, pop, rock, and traditional Bulgarian music. With five tours to Bulgaria and four albums recorded there, the Trio incorporates local musicians and instruments like the kaval, choirs, and percussion. Sonder, their fifth album, has earned 5-star reviews from Songlines (UK) and The Weekend Australian (AUS).
Critics praise their unique sound, with Songlines (UK) noting, “an atmosphere you’ve never heard or even considered before,” and Pitch Perfect (US) adding, “Given a cursory listen, you’d swear they were a Bulgarian music collective.”
Live performances feature three powerhouse Australian vocalists who sing in Bulgarian, bringing ancient traditions to the modern stage.
