Labyrinth — the 1986 film starring David Bowie –is set for a brand new stage adaptation. What’s more, Jim Henson’s son Brian Henson will be involved in breathing new life into the cult classic film.
“We are working on a theatrical adaptation of the original movie for the stage,” said Henson in an interview with Forbes. “It could be for London’s West End, but it will be a stage show, a big theatrical version. It’s very exciting.”
Henson also discussed rumours of a long-awaited sequel.
“I can say we are still excited about it but the process moves very slowly and very carefully. We’re still excited about the idea of a sequel, we are working on something but nothing that’s close enough to say it’s about to be in pre-production or anything like that.”
Recently, David Bowie’s own musical Lazarus has been flagged for cinematic release. In between that and Elon Musk shooting a car playing ‘Starman’ into space, it’s safe to say the legend of the Starman lives on well after his departure from this dimension. Plus, new and unheard Bowie recordings will be released for this year’s Record Store Day.
