Dark Mofo is set to take a pause next year, promising a grand return in 2025.

After a decade of pushing the boundaries of art and culture, Dark Mofo is stepping into the shadows for a break in 2024, with plans to come back even stronger in 2025.

Since its enigmatic inception in 2013, this unique festival has been a beacon of creativity and controversy, embracing the dark and mysterious side of life. However, a decade of relentless innovation and evolving challenges have led the organisers to make the tough decision to take a step back.

In a statement on their website, they cited “the weight of shifting conditions and the burden of escalating costs” as part of the reason for putting the 2024 event on hold.

“In its stead, two rituals will remain to guide us through the darkness in 2024—Winter Feast and Nude Solstice Swim,” the statement continues.

Born in 2013 as the mysterious sibling of the summer MONA FOMA festival, Dark Mofo has forged its own identity over the years, captivating audiences with a nocturnal celebration of the southern winter solstice.

The festival’s essence lies in embracing the darkness, a bold departure from the conventional summertime festivities. As the sun sets and the night takes hold, Dark Mofo unveils a captivating world of creativity, music, and visual wonders that ignite the imagination.

See you in 2025, Dark Mofo
