Darebin’s FUSE returns for an unforgettable one-day festival event of music, dancing, and celebration on Saturday 23 March.

With a packed program of local talent, the free and all-ages event welcomes audiences to the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre for a day of music, food, and community fun. An exciting live music line-up will be announced shortly, hosted by the legendary DJ JNETT.

FUSE Festival attendees will embark on a journey into the heart of Darebin’s creative hub at the Meet the Makers Picnic,with local Darebin produce makers celebrated as part of the Makers Competition Showcase. Judged by local businesses Jamsheed Wines, La Siréne Brewing, Constante Imports and Akimbo Bread, entries are now open for local producers and makers in the following categories:

  • Red Wine
  • White Wine
  • Country Wines/Other/Rose
  • Beer
  • Tomato Passata
  • Preserved Olives
  • Ajvar
  • Pickled Vegetables
  • Sourdough Bread

The Meet the Makers showcase will see residents share their finest produce, beer and wine in a friendly competition. A celebration of incredible diversity of homegrown creativity, awards and prizes will be presented to Darebin’s best local makers. Visitors can also enjoy a curated selection of local food and beverages from the bar and soak up the music and beautiful surrounds of Bundoora Homestead Art Centre.

Meet the Makers Picnic is an immersive family-friendly gathering designed for everyone to enjoy. Kid’s entertainment includes imaginative pop-up play spaces provided by Victoria University’s early childhood program, crafted to engage and entertain the little ones, providing a joyful environment for exploration and play.

Celebrating Darebin’s First Nations communities, festivalgoers will have an opportunity to participate in the Aboriginal cultural experiencewith Aunty Brenda Fahey, which features hands-on activities like gum nut painting, dot painting on face and rocks, storytelling, crafting with emu feathers and macramé.

Explore Darebin’s visual arts innovations by visiting the homestead to view the closing weekend of the Darebin Art Prize. Curated by Sarah Werkmeister, the exhibition is a national prize featuring a wide range of art practice including interactive video and sound artwork using cutting-edge technology, to mixed textiles, to delicate watercolours.

FUSE is the much-loved contemporary, multi-arts festival presented by the City of Darebin that turns the community into a stage for local artists and entertainers to highlight their innovative and rich artistic skills. FUSE showcases the rich variety of talent that defines the Darebin cultural landscape and engages with Darebin Council’s principles of diversity and inclusion.
