DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN TO TOUR

Nobody puts on a show quite like The Dillinger Escape Plan. Equal parts entertainingly violent and violently entertaining, these guys are one of the greatest live acts out there. They’re coming back to Australia to kick the arses of all and sundry. Catch them at the Prince Bandroom on Friday August 28.

HALESTORM. FINALLY.

Halestorm have never toured Australia. The Grammy winners are finally making it down now though, with a six-date run in December. They’re promoting their latest album Into The Wild Life. You can catch them at 170 Russell on Tuesday December 8. Tickets go on sale Thursday July 16.

METAL AT THE BENDIGO

Check out the killer line-up at The Bendigo Hotel this Friday July 17. Formed in 1994, Intense Hammer Rage originally consisted of four members, AB, Chris, Ricey and Spills but would later continue on as a three-piece without Spills on vocals. The latest of their five releases, Avagoyamugs, was unleashed in 2000 and caused a little controversy when customs raided the homes of members and seized several hundred copies of the CD and CDs from their personal collections. The boys are still continuing on and plan to release a new album in the near future. They are joined by fast as hell freaks Morbid Anal and Ornithologist, and from down south The Seaford Monster.

MISS MAY I DEBUT NEW SINGLE I.H.E.

Rising metal giants Miss May I have debuted the first new single I.H.E. from their upcoming fifth studio album, Deathless, which will be released on August 7 via Rise Records. Fans that pre-order Deathless will receive an instant download of I.H.E. produced by Joey Sturgis (Of Mice & Men) and Nick Sampson (Asking Alexandria). As the album’s opener, I.H.E. wastes no time in setting an urgent pace for the record with a breakneck, machine gun rhythm that melds seamlessly into their signature melodic choruses.

SILENT KNIGHT READY ALBUM #2

One of Australia’s leading power metal bands Silent Knight will release their long awaited and very much overdue second album Conquer & Command in late 2015. It features nine studio tracks including Prisoner Of Your World, which was the lead track on 2014’s Power Metal Supreme EP. There’s also a cover of Europe’s The Final Countdown, a fan favourite during the band’s live performances. To support the release of Conquer & Command, Silent Knight will hit the road in October for a run of dates around the country, which will see them headline the Daimonous Open Air Festival in Bali, Indonesia and play main support in their hometown of Perth for German Power Metal legends, Helloween. Catch them at The Bendigo Hotel on Thursday October 8.

NEW NORTHLANE. AWESOME.

Holy crap. I won’t give anything away here, but wait until you hear the new Northlane album, Node. Two songs are already out there (Obelisk and Impulse), and the album hits on July 24. I’ve heard a preview and these guys are about to level up big time.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA REVEALS MORE DETAILS ABOUT SPACE EP

The Devil Wears Prada’s first official release since 2013, the conceptual Space EP, will be in stores on August 21 via Rise Records and is available to pre-order now. Space includes six songs and it’s a wholly-collaborative effort, with all band members – Mike Hranica (vocals), Jeremy DePoyster (rhythm guitar, clean vocals), Andy Trick (bass), Daniel Williams (drums), and touring musicians Jonathan Gering (keyboards), and Kyle Sipress (lead guitar) – contributing. The end result is a collection of thematic songs that each explore a different point of view of space and those things that exist outside of the Earth’s province. “We wanted each song on the Space EP to have a specificity about it,” said Hranica, “to have its own identity separate from the others, to have its own sound, but still have them all united in concept. We talked about a lot of different themes, but space just felt right.”
